Preparation
1. Find a group of students virtually connect with, this can be a group from another local school, another city, another state or even another country.
2. Designate a time to coordinate a virtual meeting. Maker sure this is a time that works for both groups, keep in mind different time zones and schedules of the other group.

Choose the application you will be using to make the connection.
If you are working with a nlit ambassador you will be using the Multimedia Communication Server (MCS).
If you are working independently you may use programs like Microsoft Net Meeting and Yahoo Instant Messenger.
4. Make sure the application you are using works prior to the virtual connection.
5. Prepare questions, a video, presentation or any other activity that can be shared virtually with the other group.
The Exchange
6. Connect to the chosen program one hour prior to the scheduled time to ensure that the program is working properly.
7. Upload all presentations, slides, photos, videos etc. to the computer you will be using making it easy to display once the exchange begins.
8. Start your exchange!
Wrap Up!
9. If you wish to connect again, exchange the proper information necessary to do so.
10. Have your students reflect on their experience, check out the resources section to find out ideas for this assignment.
